This House Believe That : Homework should be banned (pro)
(PRO)
According English dictionary Homework is preparatory work done outside school (especially at home )
homework should be banned to reduce student stress. homework causes stress in many students. homework takes time, and it keeps students up late at night getting the work done. the loss of sleep makes it hard to concentrate during class because students are so tired. I once stayed up until midnight and wound up very tired when morning arrived. it was hard to focus on my lessons. as a student, I bealieve sleep is more important than doing homework. students study during the day at schools and academies, so there is no reason that we have to get homework. many schools have a one-hour rule, but with multiple classes and each teacher assigning one hour of homework, you end up with hours of work to do at home. students in advanced levels get even more work than the students in basic classes. another reason is that the noise around US. if you have a room of your own, you don't have to worry about this problem. the other student who don't have own room. I have to do my homework in the study. when i'm working, my mom is busy printing things out. it's annoying and makes it hard for me to concentrate. I can't do my homework before I sleep. I have to complete my homework in the morning when she's not using the study, before I head for the Academy. getting it done in the morning means rushing. usually, the answer are wrong because I didn't have time to really read the questions. students often think homework should be banned. I really agree with the motion
Negative Impact of PR for Students
1. Stress
Too much homework can make students depressed so they do not like the lesson. It happens because they are too bored with the number of homework they do. In a study published in the Journal of Experimental Education by sampling 4,317 students at 10 favorite high schools in California, 56% of students considered PR as the main source of stress.
2. Health Decrease
The Guidelines of the National Education Association and the National Parent-Teacher Assosiation establish a rule for public relations work called the 10 minute rule. The purpose of the rule is the time for the work of PR for each class is a multiple of 10 minutes. This means that class 1 has 10 minutes to work on the PR every night, second class 20 minutes, to class 12 120 minutes.
If the execution of public relations beyond that time can burden the students and be bad for the students' health. They become sleep deprived so that the immune system weakens and susceptible to disease.
3. Time for family and friends less
When they have a lot of homework, the less their social interaction, especially their family and friends. They become too focused on doing homework and not pursue a hobby that they enjoy.,
Children do not have more free time with family
If using simple time calculations, then children who are not burdened with homework to do at home have more time to gather with family. by using a simple time logic suppose a child to go to school at 8 am to 2 pm, after school is usually children spend time by eating, napping and playing with friends until the afternoon and if a person is given homework then automatically the rest of the time at night will used to do homework but if students are not given homework then it will make the time gathered with the family will be more and it will further strengthen the inner bond between child with mother and father.
For SD •|• several reasons why PR is considered to be of no use to elementary students, as reported by Lifehack.org:
1. PR can make a bad effect on the nature of the child to school.
Primary school children just started school, they will still spend a lot of time to come. What teachers have to do is get them to go to school. Therefore students should get a fun packed education.
2. Early homework may damage relationships in the long run.
When PR is meant to strengthen the relationship between parents and children, and parents engage in children's education, in primary school children the opposite result is obtained. At that age, children need to be reminded by their parents to do homework. After a day of school, something that contains the word "work" is not something the child wants before going to bed. This often ends up bickering children with parents. The child refuses and the parent continues to force the child to do homework.
4. PR leaves little time for children to actually become children.
According to an article entitled The Tyranny of Homework: 20 Reasons Why You Should not Assign Homework Over The Holidays, composed by Open Colleges, many children do not get enough time to exercise.
All students, especially young ones, should spend the afternoon and holiday periods to do more physical activity, play outside, and participate in sports with their friends. Both teachers and parents can encourage children to perform these activities more often.
5. Children need to rest in order to be productive in school.
